Abstract

Угасание Урильего лежбища продолжалось и после прекращения хищничества и введения на островах современных методов котикового хозяйства. Полное прекращение промысла в 1928 г. уже не смогло приостановить этот процесс. Восстановление лежбища началось, вероятно, лишь в конце сороковых - начале пятидесятых годов. Медленное восстановление лежбища можно объяснить отсутствием интенсивного обмена с другими лежбищами. Средняя величина гарема (10 самок на 1 секача) в настоящее время та, же что и в конце XX в. Вероятно она близка к естественной./The Urile rookery can be served an example of natural renewal of the fur seal harem rookery destroyed by a man. Ceasing the kill on this rookery in 1928 was probably late and could not suspend the process of dying away the rookery. Its restoration began only at the end of forties - the beginning of fifties of our century and is going on very slowly as there is no intensive exchange between the Urile and other fur seal rookeries. Mean size of the harem on the Urile rookery makes up 10 cows per one bull and is apparently close to the natural size. This situation assists decreasing purs mortality, which makes up here about 1%. Though the frequency of male fights approximately coincides in numbers with the other rookeries the density of females distribution is considerably less. The Urilye rookery represents and extremely interesting object to observe the course of the natural restoration of the rookery. To determine the character and ratio of fur seal exchange with other rookeries and fur seal displacement on separate sections of the rookery itself, it is necessary to organize tagging pups and adult fur seals of different age.
