Геоморфология подводной окраины Западной Антарктиды

Abstract

Сходство геоморфологии подводных окраин смежных частей Западной Антарктиды и крайнего юга Южной Америки проявляется с атлантической стороны в большей степени, чем с тихоокеанской. Расширение окраин в районе Антарктического полуострова и Огненной Земли обусловлено формированием на коре континентального и субконтинентального типа гетерогенных образований (Южно-Оркнейского и Фолклендского бордерлендов). Южно-Сандвичева геосинклинальная зона, связанная с океанической корой, занимает самостоятельное положение в системе структур, отделяющих Южно-Антильскую котловину от глубоководных областей Южной Атлантики./The similarity of geomorphological features of underwater margins of the adjaecent parts of the West Antarctic and southernmost tip of South America is morevidently exposed on the Atlantic side than in the Pacific. The expansion of the Atlantic underwater margins near the Antarctic Peninsula and Tierra del Fuego is assosiated with the formation of heterogenous structures on the crust of continental and subcontinental types (South Orkney and Falkland borderlands). The geosyncline zone of the South Sandwich Islands bound with the oceanic crust occupies and independent position in the system of structures separating the South Antille basin from deep-water areas of the South Atlantic.
